Almost all of the people I know who call themselves executive coaches are coaches in the area of leadership behavior. There are a few very excellent coaches in the corporate strategy domain, for instance Vijay Govindarajan and Michael Porter. The second question I ask is: are the client’s issues integrity or ethical issues?

Q: When does leadership coaching work? CK Prahalad or Vijay Govindarajan), most - including me - are not. When will coaching aimed at changing leadership behavior be most effective? It won't turn bad doctors into good doctors or bad engineers into good engineers. When is it a waste of time?
