There is a tremendous amount of conflicting data as to whether or not incentive compensation in any form is an effective motivation tool. I have witnessed bonuses motivate the correct behaviors and I’ve watched them motivate abhorrent behavior. I personally dont feel bonuses work to promote a good work ethic.

I have a Satnav form a company who is ‘obsessed with accuracy’ and whose map has not been updated since July 2006 and also has huge errors in it. Twitter used for puffery only, not for customer service Website statements that are at odds with the organisation’s philosophy. The satnav is going back. I could go on!

I don’t know about you, but it’s almost as if we have raised a generation of leaders who feel they have a moral and ethical obligation to be politically correct – WRONG. To speak "your truth" is perceived to be a potentially career limiting, if not ending move. How sad is this? Are these extreme statements?

It is not my intent to offend anyone with the text that follows, and if you find yourself being offended, it is my opinion that you need to examine your motives and principles. A sense of entitlement is not a substitute for work ethic and a desire to achieve.
