Perhaps the best course of action (and I can hardly believe I'm writing the words) is to line up with everyone else and set some 2011 goals for ourselves. So how can we set goals that won't disappear faster than a politician's promise? Goals must be specific 2. Goals must be written down 3.

Develop your web of influence (key stakeholders, decision makers, influencers, connectors) to assist you in reaching your goal. If you have the goal of sitting in the C-Suite, start by communicating this goal to others and find out how you can get a sponsor to take you under his/her wings and move you up the ranks.

The achievement of current goals and objectives free up the time & create the resources to move on to bigger and better things…Trying to do too many things at once will impede progress, dilute effort & energy, add to chaos and lead to burn-out. It's like going to the food bar hungry.
