British law created the Community Interest Company in 2005, and a number of U.S. states have passed new corporate forms legislation in recent years, including Low Profit Limited Liability Companies, Benefit Corporations, and Flexible Purpose Corporations. Federal lawmakers in the U.S. are also considering enabling legislation.
