Furthermore, last time I checked a CEO can always be removed for lack of performance, or moral and ethical indiscretions, so what purpose do CEO term limits serve other than to disincentivize the CEO? My recommendation is not to hand-cuff or bridle your CEO, rather give the CEO room to lead, maneuver, innovate and succeed.

Complicating matters further for CEOs attempting to determine what to do about bonuses is all the recent media attention and public outrage in regard to what is perceived by many to be excessive, frivolous compensation. They must be relevant, meaningful, in alignment with cultural values, and tied to the right set of metrics.

They use the term ‘metrics’ out of context. Their metrics are arbitrary, and they jerk the chains of sellers with figures that are unsubstantiated. Metrics are easily skewed and do not reflect the overall customer satisfaction. There’s this thing that websites do. They arbitrarily disable accounts.

Tenure Inhibits Change and Cripples Innovation : Organizations that favor tenure also tend to be prone to majoring in the minors. All of these traits preclude the advancement of change initiatives and cripple innovation. I want metrics that mirror experience. often evoke feelings of hatred at the mere mention of their name.

They will not compromise their value system and personal ethics for temporary gain. I think many in leadership get to choose the metric they use to measure, and they seem to always choose the one that makes them look good. That said, your observation about the need to measure the "right" metrics is an astute one.
