David Garvin, who died earlier this month, was by all accounts one of the great Harvard Business School teachers, lighting up the classroom and the minds of his students over the past 38 years. He was deeply generous to colleagues, younger faculty members, students — and, yes, to editors.

Summary.
David Garvin, a longtime Harvard Business School professor, was a prolific contributor to HBR. He died — much too early — on May 6th. We remember him by looking at his most-read HBR articles. Garvin was fascinated above all by the processes managers use to get their work done — how they make decisions, build learning organizations, persuade people to buy into change programs, give people feedback, and decide what to invest in.
