Patients newly diagnosed with acute medical conditions are often overwhelmed with their situation. They don’t know what to ask the doctor, how to evaluate the information provided (if they even remember it), or how to arrive at good decisions about their treatment. The Patient Support Corps seeks to change that by giving patients the tools to make more-informed choices about their care. The program launched at the Breast Care Center at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and has since spread to other health care organizations,
