So what’s it going to be this year…a turkey, an extra paid day off, a cash bonus, stock/options/warrants, something creative or nothing at all? I personally dont feel bonuses work to promote a good work ethic. As for our staff, they all received an equal bonus for their efforts. An idividual either has it or doesnt.

Reward talent, innovation, loyalty, attitude, creativity, work ethic, contribution, and leadership ability…not tenure. The Costco experience isn’t what it used to be, US auto manufacturers continue to struggle, the banking industry has been crippled, and government agencies (pick one…USPS, IRS, DMV, etc.)

The word no ends discussions, stifles creativity, kills innovation, impedes learning, and gates initiative. I agree with you that trying to turn it to a yes will challenge our intellect and force us to use some creativity. While inherently obvious, it should not go unnoticed that the use of the word no is 100% negative.

I don’t know about you, but it’s almost as if we have raised a generation of leaders who feel they have a moral and ethical obligation to be politically correct – WRONG. Real leaders like to be challenged – they want to be inspired by new ideas and creative thoughts. How sad is this?
