Our customer experience has always been positive. I’ve spoken with Jim Sinegal, Costco’s co-founder and CEO from 1983 to 2011, and interacted with Ryan Watkins, a young Costco warehouse manager across the country in Oregon. Costco provides career opportunities for its employees.

Dean Harris was a wonderful man who reached out to me at different junctures of my college career — giving me sage advice (and reprimanding me when I stepped over the line). Those are MY definitions. He’s a special person in my life. Odds are, if someone gives something to you, it will probably cost you something in the end.

You may set this bar based on your boss’s expectations, but hopefully by now you have become comfortable with your own definition of success. Stay positive. Use the Polly-Ana approach and flip negatives into positives wherever possible. The most important asset you will ever have is the ability to positively influence people.

Oh yes, I know the definition, but I’ve never spoken it in in a sentence. But the archaic definition of AWE is even more fun — Dread or Terror. Next post: How To Start Fresh In 2011. Just kidding on the last one. We were told to keep the star during the year and focus on it from time to time. Guess what star I chose?
