Folks need to understand you are really no different than them, you are just at a different place at a different time along your career path and therefore have a different role right now. Like an introvert for example. Tell them what you did this weekend, talk about your kids and hobbies. Good stuff.

For example, what if the company CEO “demands” that something be done? And thats my point, even if this is an extreme example. Despite standing up to management in the example I gave, there were plenty of times I made poor choices, and I (maybe too slowly) learned from them.
