Last summer, the local startup Treehouse , a producer of online education courses, decided to create a no-boss workplace by eliminating all the manager positions from its 61-person workforce, thus creating the ultimate “flat” organizational structure. But they do want a fence. Ay, there’s the rub. That’s a leader.
