The Hawthorne Studies were conducted from 1927 to 1932 at the Hawthorne Works plant outside of Chicago. Elton Mayo, a scientific management researcher, wanted to examine the impact of work conditions on employee productivity. Mayo began by searching for the right formula for productivity.

I am doing some research into the Hawthorne studies (Western Electric Company, 1929-1932, studies so named because the research took place at the plant in Hawthorne, just outside Chicago) and came across this great quote. Interest and attention increases commitment and productivity.
