Early in the twentieth century Henri Fayol identified the job of managers as to plan, organize, command, coordinate, and control. Henry Mintzberg defined strategic planning as “a formalized system for codifying, elaborating and operationalizing the strategies which companies already have.” The Fayol legacy lingers.
