In 2017 women make up 25% of senior executives in the thousands of companies covered by the survey. Although many industries were sex-segregated, women in those countries were more likely than their counterparts in capitalist societies to be in the paid workforce, in part because of policies like state-supported child care.

In 2017, as the Trump administration began, CEO activism has surged. Half of the 153 responses to the travel ban (51%) came from tech companies. but many lead global companies.
