Power is an interesting concept when leading and working within organizations. Power is not always just as it appears on the organizational chart! Just because someone’s box is higher up on the chart does not always mean that they have the most power. Who has the most power? This is “what should be”. Not too much.

Leaders used to have all the power in these hierarchical relationships, but this is no longer the reality facing many organizations. The more people develop leadership and followership skills, the more successful they will be. Followers were expected to keep their heads down, put in an honest days work, and only spoke up when asked.
