Suppose you were alive in 1884 and were approached by an aspiring entrepreneur who had developed the most efficient and durable horse carriage ever created. Yet I would argue that they each refer to different links in the total value-chain of progress. Even after the first automobile was developed by Benz, mass adoption took decades.
