Why Dr. Deming’s Work is So Important to Me

It was one of my first experiences with teamwork and intrinsic motivation being squashed by extrinsic incentives and competition. After escaping GM, I had an opportunity to attend graduate school at MIT, to study operations management, system dynamics, and other topics. There was no opportunity for pride and joy in work there.
