Yet, the question as I talked with women in the Purdue leadership program is still the age old one of how to balance it all; career, family, community, and time for oneself. Female leaders need to recognize that taking time off is part and parcel of taking proper care of themselves. He doesn’t ask, he just does.

However I believe the more important emotional trait for CEOs and entrepreneurs to gain mastery over is what I call EC or emotional control. I have only raised my voice in the workplace twice during my career and both times I have regretted it tremendously. Controlling one's emotions is part and parcel of emotional intelligence.
