Middle managers are a much-maligned presence in the workplace, with few people having much good to say about them. However, research from Wharton reminds us that this image is often unfair and that middle managers can play a crucial role in a functioning workplace.

Some teams painted walls or performed other much maintenance-type projects while others just spent time with children or adults who longed to connect. I’m encouraged to see that more companies are doing these types of service projects. By doing this, ITA Group employees were serving a cause greater than self.

Maybe its a group walk for the breast cancer, helping out on a Habitat for Humanity project or offering to put a fresh coat of paint on wall at a local Boys and Girls Club. What a simple idea! Why not let employees vote for a local charity and organize an outing to help them. why is everyone smiling? why is everyone smiling?
