Brief History of Change: ADKAR

The ADKAR model provides another perspective of the change process. Rather than describe what is happening, or prescribe what actions must be taken, the ADKAR model predicts that organization change only happens individuals change. Developed by Jeff Hiatt, the ADKAR model focus on the five outcomes individuals must experience before organizations can change. There is nothing new in the ADKAR model, except how its unique perspective allows for unique application.

Change Starts Here

The ADKAR® change management course by Prosci. At its core is a clever model; ADKAR. So I have been busy forcing all my change programs to follow the ADKAR method. At first, these confirmed my bias to use the ADKAR model. A nice model, particularly as I could fit ADKAR beautifully within it. I could force fit the 8 stages into the ADKAR model. Better still – as I only have 5 fingers – the ADKAR model is a whole lot easier to remember.
