Today my definition of the Swirl is “an absorbing state of inertia in an organization” that causes people to experience a busy purposelessness in their jobs and keeps leaders up at night feeling ill-equipped to resolve the social Swirl around business decisions.

Great leadership behaviors require a lot of blending and the ability to balance seemingly contrasting behaviors; a lot of this’s and that’s. They know that by identifying less than helpful behavior and improving themselves, they will make the biggest impact on their organization and the bottom line. Developing staff is as important as the bottom line. 360’s are a featured item in the Leadership Museum. Les, I like it that 360′s are being used.

Notice where this blind spot might be showing up, and notice how others respond to it. In my own situation, I’m still observing where “intensity&# shows up and where it might be a strength or hinder relationships. In the latter case, I’ll want to learn to lighten up. You hit the bottom-line message on the nail!
