Time Frame: With a team of 10 people the activity is about 30 minutes. Ask people to get into teams of 3, if the numbers do not work out perfect a team of 2 or 4 is fine … 3 is ideal. In this team of 3 the team has 12 minutes to complete the following: Sort through their post-it note ideas. Identify 3 main concepts that are most useful & valuable based upon the two word phrase and the teams’ judgment. Keep each team to 3 minutes.

What if the Miracle Question Worked with Corporate Teams?

A form of the Miracle Question: I tried a variation with a Project Team of Aircraft Engineers. The team and I had spent 3 days working through root-cause analysis and struggling to determine what was causing a certain screw to vibrate lose during flight. The engineers had statistics, charts, specifications for all sorts of things…and I was there to facilitate the team through Innovation Models to develop a solution to this vibrating screw.
