I’m going to admit at the outset that I was a strong proponent of Herzog’s concept for most of my career. As for sport, the game of market share was an easy way to track success.

The late French author Andre Maurois once said, “Business is a combination of sport and war.” For most of my career, I operated within intensely competitive arenas where fractions of market share points were worth millions of dollars.
